How I Resolved my Type2 Diabetes with a pancreas friendly food chart | Video Transcript | Having Pizza

I have figured out a way to have pizza even being a type 2 diabetic.  Diabetics have a limitation of 60 carbs per meal and 30 carbs per snack.  This is a frozen pizza I got at the grocery store, it’s that simple, but you can’t pick all pizza's at the grocery.  You have to pick one with an ultra thin crust.  That’s where all the carbs are, in the crust.  

This particular pizza says it has 25 carbs per serving and the serving size is 1/3 of the pizza.  So the entire pizza has 75 carbs which I can’t have because you cannot have over 60 carbs per meal.  But I can have 2/3 of the pizza which would be 50 carbs.  Here is my pizza.  I took it out of its box and I’m going to do a little surgery.  What I’m going to do is to cut 1/3 of the pizza out.  Pretty easy to do here as I’m just going to “eye-ball-it” but I got to get ride of 1/3 of this pizza crust, but I want to keep the topping because there is nothing wrong with the toppings, all the carbs are in the crust.  This pizza has been cut into 2/3’s with all its toppings and only has 50 carbs, but this isn’t a big enough meal for me so I’m going to add more topping to make for a more filling meal.  
 
I'm going to add black pearl olives.  The whole can is 4 carbs, but I’m only going to use half the can which is 2 carbs.  I’m also going to add mushrooms.  This can is 8 carbs I’m only going to use 4 carbs.  To finish I’m adding 2 carbs of mozzarella cheese.  If you are doing the arithmetic that’s 50 carbs for the pizza, 2 carbs of black olives, 4 carbs of mushrooms and 2 carbs of cheese for a total of 58 carbs.  That is still under the 60 carb maximum for a filling meal.  This is easily now a diabetic pizza.

Notes:

Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics have to limit their carbohydrates intake to 60 grams per meal and 30 grams per snack.  Using a chart based on the glycemic index makes it easy to know how many carbs are being eaten. The more important element about the glycemic index is the glycemic load each food carries.  Diabetics simply need to stay away from high load carbohydrates.  High load carbohydrates forces the pancreas to generate extra amounts of insulin.  If the pancreas cannot keep up with the load a follow up blood test called an A1c, will be higher than normal.  An A1c over 6.5% requires a change in eating habits.  The medical name is diabetes millitus.
